Last night a fairly large group of us ventured to Royal Oak, Michigan to see one of the greatest punk rock bands of all time. And let me just tell you, it was one hell of a show.
The openers the Flatliners were fairly good. But I was really unfamiliar with their music. No Use For a Name was on after them, I'm fairly familiar with their music.. I know a hand full of their songs.. enough for me to enjoy their set. They played for about a half hour.9pm comes along and NOFX comes out and proceeds to talk for about 4 minutes.. making fun of the crowd, riling them up a bit. Then they just break into their set. 3 or 4 songs in they go and do the unthinkable and play the god damned DECLINE. All of it... all 16 minutes of it. After that I was so sweaty and wiped I needed a breather and another beer.
Bubs lost his shoe, then later saw his shoe get thrown onto stage. "So long and thanks for all the shoes."
Tofer managed to get on stage and stage dive back into the crowd with out getting caught and kicked out. Although Tofer's buddy Daniel got kicked out for punching some dude in the bathroom for calling him a fag.
We saw Steve Livermore there.. he was drunk before the show even started.
They played pretty much everything I wanted them to play. Some old, some new, a couple I've never even heard.. but it was great.

I'm so pissed that I didn't get to go. I would've loved to have seen Bubs' face when he saw his shoe get thrown on stage. "who throws a shoe? honestly!"
at a Nofx show? lots of people. "So long and Thanks for all the Shoes"
damn. that sounds liek it wus quite the show.
actually i just love hearing about people getting kicked out of shit.
